Expo 2030 Hong Kong was my project during my internship at 10 DESIGN. I was tasked to design a world exposition for 2030 in a city of my choice. I decided to locate my exposition in Hong Kong as Hong Kong is within 4-5 hours flight distance from all Asian key cities.
Hong Kong is my home city and it would benefit greatly from this opportunity to promote its culture, business credentials and its global status.
My project consists of two parts: The Expo masterplan and the Hong Kong Pavilion. I read news saying that the Hong Kong Government is planning to relocate the container terminal. Therefore, I am proposing to repurpose the relocated container terminal site to be Hong Kong's future 2030 world exposition.
I adopted a futuristic theme in the design to introduce the idea of "enhancing the city for the future". Similar to the 2020 Dubai Exposition, I have kept the key themes addressed in their expo:
Opportunity - coming up with solutions and introducing visitors to new ideas that inspire them to act.
Sustainability - promoting alternatives for food, water and clean energy resources for the world.
Mobility - exploring new ideas for smarter movement of ideas, goods and knowledge for humanity.

This futuristic planning approach inspires visitors that Hong Kong is able to demonstrate leadership in promoting future thinking and to resolve global problems the world is facing.
For my exposition, I have split the site into two parts. Expo West and Expo East are connected together via boat services that allow visitors to view the expo from the waterfront as well as on the water. Each site has a primary and secondary circulation route, where both routes connect all parts of the expo together.
